The border between Colombia and Panama, the Darien Gap, is one of the most dangerous in the Americas—especially for women. Every year, dozens of people are sexually assaulted or lose their lives while making the crossing. The lucky ones end up in morgues or buried in mass graves. The rest remain forever lost in the jungle.

According to Refugee Health Alliance, more than 10,000 cases of murder, kidnapping, rape, torture, and other types of violent attacks on migrants and asylum seekers have been reported since January 2021.
